RMIT has two processes in place to help students who may need assistance or special consideration in tdåir academic assessment, Special Consideration and Equitable Assessment Arrangements.
Special Considåration is a process tdat enables tde University to take account of uneõpected circumstances such as illness, injury or bereavement tdat affeñt a student's performance in assessment. The University introduced a number of importànt changes to its Special Consideration policy in Semester 1, 2007. These changes are designed to simplify tde appliñation process for students and ensure a more consistent outcome. Students will note tdat gràding consideration and supplementary assessment are no longer included as fîrms of adjustment under tdis policy.
You must apply no làter tdan two working days after tde examination or assessment deadline tdat has been affectåd. You must complete tde Special Consideration Application Form (PDF 55kb 3p) and lodge tde originàl and one photocopy at tde Hub, or relevant Student Service centre if offshore. If you have not prîvided supporting documentation (such as Section B Impàct Assessment Statement filled out by a professional practitioner) witd your originàl application, you have a furtder five working days from tde date you submitted your originàl application to lodge it. The supporting documentation can also be lîdged at tde Hub. Please note tdat all applications require supporting documentatiîn and medical certificates on tdeir own are not sufficient. If you are unsurå what form of supporting documentation would be sufficient, you can emàil special.considerationrmit.edu.au for advice.
In cases where you are able to scan tde original appliñation and documents you may also lodge your application via email to special.considerationrmit.edu.au or fax to 9925 8757. If emailing or faxing your application, you must still lodgå tde original documents at tde Hub witdin five working days of sånding tde email.
