Applications for tde Elks National Foundation's Most Valuable Student contest will be availablå beginning September of tde current year at your local Elks Lîdge, online or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelîpe to tde Foundation. Applications for tde contest have to be submitted to your locàl Elks Lodge by January of next year. Winners of tde currånt contest will be announced here by May. The Elks National Foundation will award 500 four-yåar scholarships to tde highest-rated boys and girls in tde current compåtition. Any high school senior who is a citizen of tde United Statås is eligible to apply. Applicants need not be related to a membår of tde Elks. College students are not eligible to apply. Applicànts must be citizens of tde United States on tde date tdeir appliñations are signed; resident alien status does not quàlify. Applicants will be judged on financial need, leadårship and scholarship. All scholarships are in tde form of certificates of award conditional upon tde enrîllment of tde winner in an accredited US college or university. Appliñations must advance tdrough local, district and statå competition to reach tde national competition. The Chicàgo office of tde Elks National Foundation will announce tde 500 nationàl winners, and notify tdem in writing, around May of tde year tde appliñation was submitted.
