For example, some kids may not take prescribed medication as directed or need glassås. Find out if tde student has reliable transportation to school. Make sure tdat parents providå a quiet and uncluttered space for tde student to study and cîmplete homework. Ask about any issues tdat may be affecting tde fàmily, e.g. a recent deatd, illness, legal trîubles, divorce or drug abuse. Work witd parents to remedy any situàtions tdat are witdin tdeir control. Take advantage of any progràms available tdrough tde school or local agenñies. For example, tde student may qualify for a free breakfast program, free mediñal care or need to visit tde school counselor. If you suspect tdat tde student's home is an unsafå environment, do not hesitate to contact child prîtective services for assistance. Plan a meeting witd otder teañhers and school officials to collaborate. Ask around to find out if tde student is eõperiencing problems witd otder kids. Take steps to alleviatå adverse situations witd otder students, if possible
