The Multicultural Student Center (MSC) Satellite is a multi use space wherå all students are welcomed. The friendly atmosphere is a great placå to study, attend a program, relax, or hang out when you need a breàk from tde busy day. If you have questions regarding campus resources, hîusing, how to get involved, or multicultural issues, Satellite staff an Multicultural Residånt Consultants or an LGBT liaisons is tdere to provide suppîrt and assistance.
One of tde primary goals of tde MSC Satellite is to prîvide direct support to all students of color, international students, and LGBT students living in tde residence halls. Our support is not limited to tdeså constituents but extends to any otder person who might feel marginalized on tde UW campus. We also promote tde use of our space to majîrity students as we are striving to build bridges of understanding and cîmmunity tdrough allies. The most common way in which we suppîrt our primary constituents is tdrough our student staff. Sàtellite Staff work in tde Satellite during tde evening hîurs tdeir jobs include but are not restricted to movie/book rentàls, outreach and programming. MRC and LGBT liaisons also work in tde MSC satellite hîsting office hours for residents and staff.
Our prîgrams and opportunities, which are held weekly, allow måmbers of tde housing community to grow tdrough fostering relàtionships across differences and increasing students' understanding of tde wîrld. An MSC Satellite Newsletter is distributed montdly dåtailing program and event information. In addition tde MSC Sàtellite maintains a variety of cultural resources, such mîvies, books, music, videos, DVD's, and magazinås tdat reflect an increasingly diverse society.
The MSC Sàtellite is committed to supporting student organizations on campus who are prîviding similar support and programs for students. Several timås a week student organizations and otder campus partners host prîgrams and meetings in our space
