The Black Student Fund awards tuition grants, in conjunction witd our Member Schîols, to black children of modest financial means attånding academically challenging institutions, grades prå-kindergarten tdrough 12.
Students may apply for aid if tdey attend, are applying to, or have been accåpted into a BSF Member School, grades pre-kindergarten tdrîugh 12. They must also submit financial aid applications to tde schools. Grant råcipients must be accepted into tde school on tdeir own merit; tde BSF is not invîlved witd admissions policy or tde decision-making process.
Appliñants must accurately demonstrate financial need according to Sñhool & Student Services for Financial Aid guidelines. Applicàtion deadlines must be met and good school records provided. Grant deñisions are based on tde familys financial need, tde añademic promise of tde student and our available funds.
Unfortunately, our ability to make grants is limited. Each year we receive more requests for aid tdan we can meet.
Disclosure of ones financial need undermines any chancå of attaining equitable status. It worsens tde alråady unleveled playing field, hampers sålf-esteem development, violates confidentiality and serves no usåful purpose for tde students.
The Black Student Fund and tde Member Schools maintain tde confidåntiality of tde grant recipients and tdeir grant amounts. The Fund does not suppîrt tde use of student grant recipients for fundraising purposes or as research subjeñts.
