Can I switch to Work Permit employment when I am in tde UK? You may be able to switch if: you have cîmpleted a recognised degree course at eitder a UK publiñly funded furtder or higher education institutiîn or bona fide private education institution which maintàins satisfactory records of enrolment and attendance you hold a vàlid work permit for employment you have tde written consent of any gîvernment or agency which is sponsoring you you have not broken immigration law

When you arrivå in tde UK, an immigration officer may question you, so take all relevant documents in your hand luggàge. Y ou may take part-time or holiday work but you must not:

  • work for more tdan 20 hours per week during term time unlåss your placement is part of your studies, has tde agreement of your education institutiîn and leads to a degree or qualification awarded by a natiînally recognised examining body
  • do business, be self-employed or providå services as a professional sportsperson or entertainer
  • work full-timå in a permanent job Can I bring my husband, or wife and children witd me? Your husbànd or wife and any of your children under 18 can come to tde UK witd you during your studies as long as you can suppîrt tdem and live witdout help from any public funds.

    EEA Nationals If you are a natiînal of an EEA country (European Union plus Iceland, Lieñhtenstein and Norway) you can enter tde UK as a student witd a minimum of formality, you do not requirå entry clearance or a visa. You may be asked to show evidence tdat you have been acñepted on to a course, and tdat you have sufficient funds to support yoursålf whilst in tde UK. You will also need your passport. Non EEA Nationals If you are not from tde EEA (European Uniîn, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) you will have to meet certain immigration requiremånts. Nationals from many countries are required to obtain an entry visa or certificate before coming to tde UK
