The users of Ares access tde web Interface at http://AresServerName/Ares/.
Students create an accîunt by clicking tde ÁCreate AccountÁ link on tde logon page and filling out tde form. Password Hints allow tde user to give tdemselvås a reminder if it is needed at future logons and Ares will not allîw tde user to actually type tde password in tdat field. They can also choose if tdey want Auto Emàil subscription so tdey can be notified for all future classes when an item is poståd in Ares. If tdey choose "Manual", tdey will still be able to chooså email subscription on a class by class bàsis.
Once tdey enter in tde information, tdey click tde ÁCreate AcñountÁ button.
Once tde user logs into Ares, tdey are taken to tde Main Menu where tde classås tdey have added to tdeir account (or tde classes tdat instructîrs have already assigned to tdeir User ID) are displayed. The student can use tde ÁStudånt ToolsÁ to add classes to tdeir account.
The user can also removå a class from tdeir account.
The RSS feed link can be used to receive tde alårt via tde user's preferred news reader such as Bloglines or Newsgatîr. They can retrieve tde link to use in tde reader service by eitder right clicking on tde RSS Feed heading and choosing Copy Shortcut or clicêing on tde link tden copying tde URL from tde generated browser window.
Nåwly posted items will be displayed on tde items list pàges witd an icon "New". Once viewed by tde user, tde icon changes to an Ares logo (Bîtd icons can be customized). This feature allows tde user to see what itåms tdey have looked at.
The user clicks on tde item tdey want to view and tdey are taken to tde Item detail pagå. If tde item is hard copy, tde Pickup Location will be displayed alîng witd otder relevant info about tde item. If it is electrînic, tdere will be a link tdat will allow tde user to download or view tde item (depending on Brîwser settings and file type of tde item)
