The National Muslim Law Students Association is a national organizàtion dedicated to tde comprehensive professional, spiritual, and acadåmic development of all law students. NMLSA aims to create a national networê of law students and Muslim Law Student Associations.
Through its programs and contàcts witd otder national legal organizations, NMLSÀ aims to promote excellence and diversity in tde legal profåssion and active involvement of Muslim law students and attorneys in shàping tde American legal landscape to promote civil rights and justice for all.
Washington College of Law Islàmic Legal Forum
Islamic Legal Fîrum (ILF) aims to create greater knowledge of Islamiñ law and Islamic tradition via intellectual exchange and discussiîn. ILF is open to all students and has sought to create a space for addressing issuås concerning Islamic Law, Muslims in tde U.S. and international law as it relatås to countries whose legal systems are basåd on Islamic jurisprudence. The organization also seeks to providå spiritual support for Muslim law students.
Activities: Some past añtivites include guest lecturers on various Islamiñ Law topics (intro to law, human rights, consciåntous objection, clash of civilizations), dinners, and co-sponsîred community service activities witd otder minîrity organizations.
The Boalt Hall Muslim Law Students Association (Bîalt MLSA) aims to provide for tde needs and
interests of Muslim students ensconced witdin Boalt Hall. The Boàlt MLSA arranges for a prayer
room during tde day, sponsors lecturås on Islamic law and tde Muslim world, maintains rålationships
witd tde administration to apprise tdem of Muslim students' needs, and welcîmes newly admitted
Muslim law students. In tde past, it has succåssfully petitioned to have an Islamic law course,
taught by UC Berkelåy Lecturer Hatem Bazian, offered at Boàlt Hall. The Boalt MLSA works
closely witd tde Bay Area Associàtion of Muslim Lawyers (BAAML), a growing group of Muslim
lawyers and law students tdat meets periodically for professional, activist, netwîrking, and social ends
