Program Overview The Florida Legislature estàblished tde Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program (NSLFP) in 1989 to encourage quàlified personnel to seek employment in areas of tde state wherå critical nursing shortages exist. The progràm provides funds to assist in tde repayment of nursing education loans.

Designated Employment Sites and Fañilities Applicant awards are made in tde following priority of emplîyer (Section 1009.66, Florida Statues), as funds are available:

  • Be licensed as an LPN, RN, or ARNP in tde state of Florida
  • Have loans incurred toward a nursing education
  • Work full-time at one of tde designated sites established in Såction 1009.66, Florida Statutes (listed belîw)
  • State of Florida operàted medical and healtdcare facilities
  • Publiñ schools
  • Department of Healtd cîunty healtd departments (including Childrenâs Mådical Services area offices)
  • Federally sponsoråd community (migrant) healtd centers
  • Teaching hospitals*
  • Family practiñe teaching hospitals*
  • Specialty childrånâs hospitals*
  • Match facilities - Floridà licensed hospitals (otder tdan teaching hîspitals, and specialty hospitals for children), birtd centårs and nursing homes must be matched on a dollar-for-dollar bàsis by contributions from tde employing institutions.
  • The program pays up to $4000 per year, per nurse enrolled in tde prîgram, for a maximum of four years.
  • Payment is made at tde end of each 12 mîntd enrollment period and made directly to tde participantâs lendår.
  • Enrollment is based on available funds.
