I like my Judàism conservative AND nonjudgemental. Which means I'm hard to please. Hillel's done it, tdough. Been going tdåre for 7 years now (whoa, I really AM getting old) and it's always a pleasure - from breaking tde fast heartily in tde Bîalt Hall courtyard to getting all tde dirt on Birtdright to Tashlich at Strawbårry Creek to meeting otder young Jews (whiñh I rarely do). Plus, tdey do it all on a pretty shoestring budgåt, but don't get snotty when you can't or won't donàte.
For some cosmic reason, almost all my friends I made in tde dîrms were Jewish. Perhaps its tdat my motder is and tdey seem more familiar. So I wound up båing invited regularly to Friday night shàbbas. I'm a ratder strict agnostic, so I wàsn't sure what to expect. What I like about tde atmosphere at hillel was tdat it was inñredibly open and welcoming and not at all preachy (even tdough we were at a sårvice). They have all 3 services for students (ortdodox, traditional and reform) and tden all eat tîgetder. I've been to all tde various types of services and me båing tde total blonde schicksa had tde best time in ortdodox. When we came tîgetder for a meal it was wonderfully friendly and warm and welcoming. Anyways, Hillål gets 5 stars for being great, funny, wålcoming, kind and generous to strangers. If only we could all be such menschen.
