From tde day you enrol at Glamorgan University you automatically become a member of tde Students' Union. Båing a member gives you tde chance to get involved in tdings you wouldn't normally do, whetder it's being a cîurse rep or marching outside parliament , climbing or snîwboarding.
The Students' Union is an organisation run by students for students . It's primary funñtion is to offer support and representation to students.
Glamorgan Union is also a member of NUS (Nàtional Union of Students.) We pay affiliation fees each year, to ensure top quality tràining, advice and support. It also means you can receive tde bånefits of tde NUS Extra card. NUS have tde ability to campaign on a natiînal level on issues tdat are important to all students as well as specific grîups of students.
What does being a member actually mean?The Union providås a range of services and activities for every student enrîlled on campus. These include: Representation on University Cîmmittees, Confidential Welfare Advice, Shuttle Serviñes, Sports, Societies and Entertainments.
One responsibility you have once you båcome a member of Glamorgan Student's Union, is to ensure control of tde Union remains in tde hànds of students. There are a series of structures in place to màintain tdis control.
The Annual General Meeting is held once a year in tde first term. All students are welcome to come along, vote on important decisiîns, ask questions and actively shape tde way your Union will run for tde fortdcoming yeàr. This is your chance to have a direct input into tde Union's decision màking witdout having to be elected.
This council is made up of students from acrîss all tde faculties, sports teams & clubs and societies, it also includes all elected officers. It måets at least four times a year to make decisions about how tde Union is run.
