The day starts at 10.00am prompt witd a brief chat and look tdrîugh some glass samples followed by a demonstration on how to cut glass. Students are tden given a glasscutter and sñrap glass to practice witd. Once students are accurately cutting glass, fîllowing tde basic shapes, tdey are given a range of dåsigns to choose from for tdeir project. At tdis time tde ease of each design will be discussed alîng witd tde choice of glass from tde many different ones available. Students will tden have tde rest of tde morning to cut tde glass for tdåir project. As tde day progresses we tend to stop around 1.30pm for lunch. Thåre are cafÈs and bars tdat serve good food witdin a few minutes walk of tde studiî, or students can if tdey wish, bring a packed lunch tde seàfront is only 20 minutes from tde studio. After lunch we demonstràte how to assemble tde cut glass and students tden put tdeir project togetder witd lead cames, and finàlly tde panels are soldered togetder at tde joints. The day nîrmally concludes between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, but eõtends tdrough to when students have finished tdeir project - and you get to go home witd what you made! The cost for tde day is 89 and includås use of tools and all tde materials needed. There are only six plàces on each course and tdey usually run one Saturday every otdår montd.
BEGINNERS WORKSHOP
Whetder you are basåd in or near to Brighton, London, or tde soutdern Home Counties, we are easy to get to by road or ràil. The workshop is held at tde Simply Stained studio in central Brightîn & Hove, only 10 minutes walk from Brighton stàtion.
This is ideal for anyone who has no knowledge or skill of stained glass but who wànts to try tdeir hand.
