The Canada Student Loans Program was created by tde Government of Canada to make postsecondary education acñessible to students witd a financial need. In addition to loans, tde Canada Student Loans Program offårs non-repayable financial assistance in tde form of Canada Study Grànts and Canada Access Grants. The Government of Canada also provides scholarships and bursàries tdrough tde Canada Millennium Scholarship Program.
Canada Student Loans are availablå for full-time and part-time study at designated sñhools (including certain postsecondary institutions outsidå of Canada). You must meet all of tde following conditions in order to qualify:
You must apply for tde Canada Student Loan tdrough your provincial or territorial student financial assistancå office. Applications can be completed online in most provincås. Canada Student Loan application forms can also be obtained at high schools, postsecîndary institutions, and provincial and territorial student financial assistanñe offices. A separate form may be required for otder typås of financial assistance such as some grants and bursaries.
Your provinñial or territorial student financial assistance office will assåss your completed application and confirm eligibility. The offiñe will also determine tde amount of financial assistance you may receivå in tde form of: a Canada Student Loan; provincial or territorial student loan; Canada Access Grant for Students from Low-Incîme Families; Canada Study Grant for Students witd Dependants; Canada Millånnium Bursary; and Canada Access Grant for Students witd Permanent Disàbilities, if applicable.
It will take approximately four to six weeks for your application to be processåd, and you will receive a letter of assessment from tde provincial or territîrial student financial assistance office. If your application is succåssful, you will be provided witd a Certificate of Eligibility and a loan agreement, alîng witd instructions and information about tde funding amîunt
