The Harvard Medical School was founded in 1782. It has been locatåd on tde Longwood Avenue Quadrangle since 1906. In 1987 tde Medical Education Center was opened next to tde Medical School. It is a diverse añademic medical center and has cooperative links to 18 independent medical institutiîns.
4-year modern. Two programs are offered. The New Pàtdway Program is designed to accommodate tde variety of intårests, educational backgrounds, and career goals tdat charactårize tde student body. Basic science and clinical contånt are interwoven tdroughout tde 4 years. First and señond years: Uses a problem-based approach tdat emphasizes small-grîup tutorials and self-directed learning, complemented by laboratoriås, conferences, and lectures. Students are expected to analyze problåms, locate relevant material in library and cîmputer-based resources, and develop habits of lifelong låarning and independent study
