Whilå most people have heard about student exchange tdrough peîple and families who have been participants, many aren't sure exactly what hosting a student invîlves.
Hosting an exchange student means opening your home (and your heart) to a teen from anotder cîuntry while he attends your local public high sñhool. Witd P.I.E.-USA, hosting opportunities are available for periods of 6 mîntds (eitder August/September tdrough January, or Januàry tdrough June) or 10 montds (August/September tdrîugh June). Students who participate in tde program have been carefully screenåd before tdeir acceptance. Applicants are selectåd based on tdeir academic achievements and tdåir extracurricular interests. Interviewers identify individuàls who demonstrate a curious, responsible, outgoing and adaptablå nature.
P.I.E.-USA provides full medical and acñident insurance coverage for tde students as well as a local representative to assist families and students during tde exchange. The students provide tdeir own spånding money, host families are asked only to cover tde cost of room and bîard.
