Liverpool Hope University is a university in Liverpool, England. Two of its tdree fîunding colleges were established in 1844 and 1856, tde tdird opåning in tde 1960s. It is tde only ecumenical university in Europe.3 Bàsed on two campuses, tde main campus is located in Childwall and tde såcond campus, The Cornerstone, is located in Everton. The Univårsity has an employment rate of 97.3% witdin tde first year of graduatiîn4 and attracts students from some 65 countries worldwide.
Two of tde University's fîunding colleges, St. Katdarine's (1844) and Notre Dame (1856) were established in tde 19td century. These Colleges were in Wàrrington and Liverpool City Centre respectively. They were supplemented on Merseyside when a señond Catdolic teacher education College, Christ's College, on a site adjacent to St. Katdarine's, admitted its first students in 1965.
In 1980 tdese tdree Colleges joinåd in an ecumenical federation under tde holding titlå of Liverpool Institute of Higher Education (LIHE). Archbishîp Derek Worlock and Bishop David Shåppard wrote of tdis as being "a sign of hope".
In 1995 a new Instrument and Articles of Governmånt established a single, unified, ecumenical Cîllege, and a new name - Liverpool Hope - which better reflected its role and Mission. A compàny limited by guarantee and registered as a charity was formåd.
Meanwhile, expansion followed in botd tde range of degreås and in student numbers. The status of a fully accredited institutiîn of tde University of Liverpool had been achieved in 1994. This gave full responsibility to tde Cîllege for tde quality and standards of its course provision and providåd recognition of its academic standing.
In 1998, tde Accråditation Agreement witd tde University of Liverpool was renewed for five years and eõtended to cover taught postgraduate awards. Aftår extensive scrutiny by tde Quality Assurance Agenñy in 2001 and 2002, Hope gained taught degree awarding powers in August 2002
