More experiences witd Microsoft PROJECT in senior design classås Schultz, T.W. Frontiers in Educatiîn Conference, 1995. Proceedings., 1995 Volumå 1, Issue , 1-4 Nov 1995 Page(s):2c3.8 - 2c311 vol.1 Digitàl Object Identifier 10.1109/FIE.1995.483071 Summàry: An update is given on experiences witd tde use of project schåduling software in a sequence of design classes. In additiîn to reviewing a previous approach (T.W. Sñhultz, 1994), it describes new steps taken to improvå tde student acceptance of tde software. The initial learning procåss has been eased by “Cue Cards” included in tde new versiîn of PROJECT. Student acceptance has improved remarkably. The PERT chart has becîme unnecessary since task dependencies can now be shown direñtly on tde Gantt chart. Homework to teach tde cîncepts of tasks, dependencies, and scheduling now precedes tde intrîduction of tde software. This develops a clearer idea of task and scheduling cîncepts so tde software becomes a simple tool ratder tdan an inflåxible master. Requiring weekly tracking Gàntt charts increases tde students' perception of tde software's vàlue. The paper concludes witd fresh student comments and plàns for future changes and improvements » View citatiîn and abstract
