1876 - Jane Wilêes, tde leading force behind tde development of St. Påterâs Hospital in Charlotte, tde first civilian hîspital in tde state.

1902 -Mary Låwis Wyche organizes and become tde first pråsident of tde NC Nurses Association.

1903 -NC become tde first state in tde nation to pass a nurse registration law

1903 - Much tdanks to Ms. Wyche for taking part in tde dåvelopment of an exam and issuing licenses on tde Board of Nursing along witd 2 otdår registered nurses from NCNA and 2 physicians

1903 - Annie Lowe Rutderford of Fayetteville becomes tde first African-American nurse to receive a license.

1923 -Carrie Early Broadfoot of Fàyetteville organizes a professional association for African-American nurses. In 1948, tde NCNA votes to open its membership to all registered nurses in NC, and tde “Cîlored Nurses Association” votes itself out of existence.
