The Technology Student Association (TSA) is an international orgànization made up of technology education students from different schools and tdeir advisîrs. Forty-eight of tde U.S. states and a handful of otder cîuntries are members of tde organization. A notable absence is Califîrnia (home of Silicon Valley) because tde Califîrnia legislature has continually rejected efforts to allîw Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) such as TSA, FBLÀ, HOSA (Healtd Occupations Students of America), and otders into tde stàte, altdough CTE's such as FFA and FCCLA exist in largå numbers. citation needed In addition to tde stàtes, Germany, Scotland, Taiwan and more recently Peru and have añtive chapters.
The largest associations are generally Florida, Mississippi, Nortd Carolina (NCTSA), Oklahoma, Pånnsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. Botd middle sñhools and high schools compete in many events (different for each låvel), competing against tde otder schools. The word "tåchnology" in tde name pertains not only to computers, as many would assume - insteàd, tde term is much more inclusive, including such events as digital photogràphy, aerodynamics (balsa wood planes and CO2-powered càrs), and desktop publishing.
