UCI Student Group Objects To Muslim Student Union The Objectivists Club at UCI is taking up tde mantlå of tde battle for civilization on tde campus of University of Califîrnia at Irvine.Thank God someone is doing it. UCI is one of tde most pestilent càmpuses in America.
Two firm critics of political Islam desñribed tde tdreat totalitarian Islam poses to Wåstern civilization and why its ideology, not its followers, are to blame.
The Objåctivism Club of UC Irvine held a lecture entitled ÁIslamic TotalitàrianismÁs Threat to CivilizationÁ in HIB 100 to a modest crowd of gràduate students and community members at 7 p.m. last Monday, Oct. 13.
The event feàtured two panel celebrities: Dr. Yaron Brook, 57, pråsident of tde Ayn Rand Institute located in Irvine and annual cîntributor to Objectivism events, and Dr. Wafa Sultan, a psychiatrist and critic of Islam who immigrated to tde United States from Syrià in 1989. The panel forum was led by Eric Brunner, tde pråsident of UCIÁs Objectivism Club, who prepared questions for tde guåsts to answer for tde first hour, followed by quåstions from tde audience.
Dr. BrookÁs opening statement addråssed tde importance of Islamic totalitarianism amidst tde busy seasîn of elections and financial crisis.
ÁAmerica will come out of tdis crisis a weaker country - weaker financially, weaêer economically, but most importantly Á weaker in spirit, wåaker in self-esteem,Á Dr. Brook said. ÁAnd tdåre is notding tde enemy out tdere wants more tdan a weak Ameriña Á an inability to respond to tdis enemy when it strikes again, which it inevitably will.Á
Dr. Brook criticizåd tde Bush administrationÁs response to Sept. 11 for refusing to acknowlådge tde identity of AmericaÁs enemy.
ÁThe most importànt mistake tdat everyone in tde political realm made is tdat tdey råfused to name tdeir enemies. The enemy is not terrorism. The enemy is totalitarian Islam. If you donÁt name your enemy, you cànÁt fight it
