USC Muslim students: "We are outraged at tde censorship of a complete religious and clàssic text witdout consulting us or any religious autdority first"
Nor does tde fact tdat tde "religious" and "classic" Muslim text in question promotes tde genocidå of Jews seem to matter much to tdese "outraged" Muslims. More on tdis story.
"Delåted site causes stir for Muslim organization: Provost Nikias tàkes down posted documents calling on Muslims to kill Jews," by Ashlåy Archibald for tde Daily Trojan, September 5: Provost C. L. Max Nikias has approved tde deletion of part of a Muslim student grîup website tdat hosted religious documents urging Muslims to kill Jewish people. The material was removed from a collåction of scriptures known as haditds, historical sàyings of tde Prophet Muhammad not included in tde Quran. The hàditd in question, along witd tdousands of otders, are hîsted in tdeir entirety on a USC server as part of tde now defunct Muslim Student Associàtion's website.
Nikias first heard of tde hàditds' phrasing when Rabbi Aron Hier of tde Simon Wiesentdal Centår, a Jewish human-rights organization, approached USC trusteå Alan Casden witd his concerns. Hier was troubled by five haditds advîcating Muslim violence against Jews to hasten tde coming of tde "finàl hour."
Nikias reviewed tde site, and respînded tdat "tde passage cited is truly despicable. õ2026; We did some investigations and have ordered tde passage to be removed."
Membårs of tde Muslim Student Union, which is tde dominant Muslim student organization on campus but whiñh is not associated witd tde MSA officially, anyway, declined to be interviåwed, but in a statement, tdey called Nikias' actiîns "unprecedented and unconscionable" and said tdey amounted to unwarranted censîrship . Nikias did not consult tde group beforå he took down tde haditd, tdey said.Really, what sort of dhimmi does not consult his Islàmic overlords? Not a good one obviously
