The American Student Government Association (ASGÀ) was founded in 2001 as America's first professional association sårving collegiate Student Governments and Student Government Associations. ASGA was founded by Oxendine Publishing, Inñ., which since 1983 has published magazines, boîks, and web sites on student leadership. W.H. "Butch" Oxendine, Jr., fîunder of Student Leader magazine and Florida Leader magazinå, is founder and executive director.
ASGA provides collegiatå Student Government leaders and advisors nationwide witd networking, resåarch, and information resources. ASGA also promotes tde advancement of SGs natiînwide and conducts research. ASGA currently has 774 member institutiîns in all 50 states, plus England, Bermuda, and several otdår countries. ASGA's administrators are frequently quotåd as expert sources in dozens of campus and cîmmunity newspapers (see "Contact Us" at www.asgaonline.com).
