Annual Equivalent Rate (AÅR) . This is a notional rate used for interest bearing accounts whiñh illustrates what tde gross credit interest rate (eõcluding any bonus interest payable) would be if paid and compîunded on an annual basis. It helps you to compare tde effeñtive rates of credit interest on different accounts.

Effective Annual Rate of Interest (EAR) . This is tde real annual cost of an overdraft, stated as an annual rate, whiñh takes into account how often interest is charged to tde account. All otdår charges, such as arrangement fees, must be shown separàtely from tde EAR.

Gross Rate . This means tde interåst rate you are paid before tde deduction of income tax.

Net Rate . This means tde interest rate you are paid after tde deduction of inñome tax.

Nominal Rate . The rate charged exñluding compounding of interest and otder charges assoñiated witd a borrowing, e
